I can't believe it's still raining! Somehow Riley and his buddy got a night in the barn. I think Riley wanted to go out but his friend was set on staying in. At least I'll have a clean horse to ride in the AM.
Taylor aka Three Piece Suit 1989-2007. 16.3H Bay Thoroughbred Gelding.
Competed through Training at USEA HT's and Prelim at schooling HT's.
Owned from age 11 until his death.
Riley aka Show Cat born 1990. 16.1H Bay Thoroughbred Gelding.
Competed once at Novice USEA HT. Injured his hock and was retired from age 10-17. Brought out of retirement at the end of his 17th year and slowly reconditioned. Shown lightly in hunters and jumpers 2009. Plan to start eventing at Novice and school Training level. Hope to show a few times at Training USEA Ht's in 2010. Will continue with Hunter-Jumper shows during the summer.
Kruiser born Apr.6 2007. 16 H (and growing) Bay Trakehner Gelding.
Had 40 days (maybe) of training when I got him so is a clean slate. That's what I wanted. Lovely attitude. Friendly and easy going. Not fazed by new situations. Short term goal - 3 months ground and under saddle work to make sure he understands the basic concepts. Summer off and starts real work in the fall. Long term goal - enter the 4yr old class at the YEH show at MCP 2011.
There is nothing more satisfying than connecting with an animal. For me it is about the horse. Riley is the second horse that I am attempting to have success in eventing with. The first was Taylor, who sadly is not with us anymore, but he taught me pretty much everything I know now. Everything that I will build on with Riley and hopefully a young horse down the road. For me my mojo is about awareness. I lost it for a while while I was running. It's slowly making it's way back into my brain...slowly but surely.
